This is a vintage AC 6,000 RPM tachometer. This recently came out of an estate where it has been in cool dry storage for decades. This style tachometer an housing was used on Buick and Chevrolet Chevelle applications of the 60s and early 70s. This tach is a bit of a mystery with its plain black and white dial and painted housing. I am not sure of the original application. Possibly truck or a dealer parts counter accessory? It has a housing that can be used as a console or dash top mount. The housing can also be flipped 180 degrees so the tach can be mounted as an under dash"knee knocker" tachometer. The housing bares the casting number 1549999. The tach appears to have the part number 6412835 but the ink is faded so that is a guess. This tach will fit a variety of years and models.
