This distinction is present on the packaging, all included paperwork, and the watch.
All future timepieces (from 1995) are made by the new company (GROUPE BOGART) and are marketed only as “Ted Lapidus” and are made in Korea. Please exercise discretion when shopping for products of this brand to ensure that you are aware of this distinction, as the two companies are completely different and separate.
